CDHM PRESS RELEASE
May 12, 2009
www.cdhm.org

There are big events planned in the mini community at CDHM.org.

Custom Dolls, Houses, and Miniatures, the website for all things miniature, is celebrating its third anniversary in grand style with three worldwide competitions for miniature dolls, animals and cakes.

What better way to celebrate three wonderful years sharing the joy of miniatures than to have a panel of celebrity judges select winners from diverse miniature creations?  Contest rules will be available on www.cdhmcontests.com starting June 1, 2009.

First up is The “Miss CDHM Miniature Doll Universe Pageant”.

This competition will recognize areas of excellence in addition to the Miss CDHM Miniature Doll Universe.

Best Dressed.  Both amateur and professional doll dressers are asked to pull out all the stops for this competition and create the most amazing costume ever featured.

Best Newcomer.  Reserved for the amateur competitors.  Never made a doll before but always yearned to try?  Now is your chance to prove you are the next Big Name in the making!

All Dollmakers from around the world have a chance for their creation being chosen Miss CDHM Miniature Doll Universe.

The second competition, “CDHM Animal Show” is set to bring out the animal in mini artists.

Cuddly and furry or sleek and scaly, in the "CDHM Miniature Animal Show," animal miniature artists from around the globe are called upon to strut their stuff in four categories.  These will include:  Canine, Feline, Fantasy, and Winged.

Each category will have a first place winner that will progress to the Best of Show ring to find out which entry will claim the CDHM Universal Animal Miniature Artist title.

The third contest adds a dash of sweetness: "The CDHM Cake Extravaganza".

Pick your FIMO, Sculpey, cold porcelain or other choice “ingredient” and whip up the confection of all confections.  A Master Miniature Baker will be chosen in the Floral, Fantasy and Themed categories of this competition.  Each of these winners will then proceed to compete for the final title of CDHM Universal Miniature Baker.

The Celebrity Judges already on board include Jack Johnston (Jack Johnston Original Art Dolls), Dana Burton (Dana Burton Dolls), Madelva Fernandez de Rojas (Editor of Miniaturas magazine), Melissa Brandt (Associate Editor of American Miniaturist magazine), Molly Cromwell (Molly Cromwell Presents), Kelly Rudd (Editor of Ashdown Publications), Ahmed Bin Khalid Althani (collector), Deb Wood (Enchanted Hearts Dolls), Mulvany and Rogers (Mulvany and Rogers Designs), Kerri Pajutee (Kerri Pajutee Miniatures), Angie Scarr (Angie Scarr Miniatures) and Ron Hubble (Ron Hubble Miniatures).

The competition begins June 1, 2009, with entries due by July 15, 2009, 5 p.m. (CST/USA) to contest@cdhm.org.  Judges will review entries and winners will be posted July 31, 2009.  Details will be posted at www.cdhmcontests.com.  The contests are open to the public.

There will be fabulous Grand prizes for 1st place in each contest including a Greenleaf Dollhouse Kit, one-year membership to CDHM Galleries and more, plus prizes for each recognized category.

CDHM opened its virtual doors three years ago with the hope that doll and miniature artisans would have a home of their own to market their wares for one stop shopping.  This magical site now features galleries filled with any type of miniature imaginable, forums where artists and collectors alike can get together and talk about their miniature passions and free how-to tutorials on all different types of miniature crafting.

The CDHM site has become a nurturing environment for both amateurs and professionals to learn and play.  Throughout its three years, the site has grown from a small group of dedicated artists to a global smorgasbord of talent.  From that early concept of forum and gallery, blogs and an on-line newsletter featuring professional writers has emerged.  Particularly with these new features, CDHM's goal of connecting the people who create, collect, and sell dollhouse scale miniatures has exceeded all expectations.

CDHM members have achieved unique opportunities courtesy of their favorite miniatures website from publications in Miniaturas, American Miniaturist, Dolls House World, and Dollhouse Miniatures.  Last November an even more spectacular opportunity arose when members were featured on American homemaking maven Martha Stewart's TV show “Martha Stewart Living”, which is broadcast around the world. CDHM members and representatives from Greenleaf Dollhouses and Ashdown Publications were all on hand to introduce Martha and her audience to the amazing world of miniatures.

After three years of growth, the site is not resting on its laurels.  Topping the list of new and exciting plans is CDHM Live, a new opportunity for doll and miniature instructor artisans to present both free and paid tutorial instructions to the miniature world in a virtual online environment.  CDHM continues to work on features new and innovative to the miniature community.

So check your workbench for this adventure and fire up your computer, the world of miniature competition at CDHM.org awaits!
